Tiles Workshop with Dani

Highly recommended. We had a great afternoon with a well balanced introduction to iberian and portuguese cultural heritage and tile-painting explained and assisted by our passionate host (Obrigado Miguel!). The results are unique and - not like some of the stuff in the tourist shops around - really "made in Portugal" 😉.

I had an amazing experience at the tile workshop. The explanations were very detailed, and the service was excellent. The workshop provides a variety of options for anyone interested in creating tiles, allowing for lots of creativity. I was very satisfied with the final product. They even provided a shipping service for finished pieces. I will definitely return! This was a unique and wonderful experience in Lisbon.

Such a fun and unique thing to do while in Lisbon. It was a great break from walking and sightseeing for our family. I was a little worried about our (well behaved) 7 and 9 yr olds, but they were able to participate without any problems. The designs were much harder than they looked, but our tiles all turned out great. Be sure to do this in the beginning of your trip to allow for the 2-3 day time for the tiles to finish/bake. Miguel was patient and a good instructor.

Nice and calm experience, great way to get into the city vibe and relax mentally and physically, it had a theraupeutic effect. I think it's especially great for those travelling with people who has lower mobility or older relatives, as you can enjoy the process and there is not much physical action needed, you sit all the time.

One of the first things I did in Portugal and it was a great way to learn more about tile making and develop an appreciation for the skill it takes to make all the azulejos you will see around Lisbon and the rest of the country. We took the beginners 2 hour class and Miguel does a great job of explaining the technique and they give you the stencils and paints to paint tiles in a number of different designs while also giving you the free reign to be as creative as you want. You get 6 small tiles that you can make individual designs on or use for a combination design. A great way to get you out of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in the culture of Lisbon, in a small authentic tile workshop. . Miguel is warm and engaging, unassuming, but with great talent and experience, from a long line of tile painters. It is the family business. I would go back again! Also, you have to wait for the tiles to be fired which takes about 2 days before you get them back so I would plan to do this early in your visit to Lisbon, or they can ship them to wherever you are staying next, within Portugal, or to your home country, for a fee.
